Chesapeake Catfish Blog
I manage a science communication blog ChesapeakeCatfish.com where recent science on invasive catfishes in the Chesapeake Bay region is shared. There are also less scientific articles that provide general information on catfishes and the aquatic life of the Chesapeake Bay region and beyond.
DNA Barcoding
We developed a video to explain DNA barcoding in the context of identifying unknown fishes. The video accompanied a paper we published examining the identity of an introduced fish in the New River, Virginia that could have been one of two sister species without well-documented characters to distinguish them. Click here to read the article. This video is also presented in Dr. Donald J. Orth's ichthyology class to show students a modern method to identify fishes.
Virginia Sea Grant Video
Virginia Sea Grant produced a video and article describing my dissertation work, as well as work I am conducting as a Virginia Sea Grant Graduate Research Fellow. Thank you to Madeleine Jepsen and VASG for putting this together.
